Football inspires poetry…

Leamington FC’s New Windmill Ground has inspired many emotions over the last 12 years. Tears of joy, tears of despair. But could this be the first time that the NWG and the Brakes have actually inspired poetry?

Trust member and long time Brakes and Coventry City fan Peter Warren has set up a Facebook page to post examples of his prose, including this piece on Leamington FC…

When Saturday comes around
The place for me is the New Windmill Ground
To see my friends and have the craic

And cheer on the boys in gold and black

No matter what win lose or draw
You will always hear the North Bank roar
Add Harbury Lane and Sheepside stand

And we have the best support in all the land

At ten to five the game is done
And hopefully the brakes have won
Then happily off home I go

But there is one thing that i know

When Saturday comes around again
I’ll be back here at Harbury Lane
Where you’ll always find a friendly face

Who could ever find a better place ?
