Whitnash Fun Day

On Sunday the Trust held a stall at the Whitnash Fun Day, which was organised by the new mayor of Whitnash, Adrian Barton. Joined by Leamington FC board members Kevin Watson and Mark Davidson, the Trust team sought to spread the message about Leamington FC into the wider community.

Pete Davis and Mark Davidson ran a very popular ‘Beat the Goalie’ competition, with lots of kids parting with their pocket money to test their skills against our excellent volunteer keepers from the Brakes juniors. At 50p for three shots, this proved to be a winner with all concerned, in the end with all ages having a go, and even a couple of local Policemen! The reward for scoring two goals was a ticket to one of the pre-season friendlies, donated by Leamington FC, and lots were dished out.

There was also a competition to guess the age of Nick Rogers’ classic motorbike, and a Spot the Ball competition using one of Steve Wharton’s action shots from last season.

The whole event had a great atmosphere, and credit must be paid to Adrian and his team for putting it together. The live entertainment was great, and lots of folk looked like they were really enjoying themselves. And for the record I could have won the welly wanging contest, but I didn’t want to show off.

Fundraising

On the day the Trust raised £109.50 which will be split 50/50 between Trust funds and the Whitnash Mayor’s Defib appeal. This aims to provide and maintain 3 defibs for 10 years so  people can be treated more quickly and thereby save lives and prevent disability caused by heart attack. The cost for this would be £10,000 so please help to save a life by making a donation.
