Seb Coe in Warwick

Lord Coe, chairman of the London Olympics Organising Committee was in Warwick on Sunday 1 July for the Lord’s Taverners cricket match against Warwick School, which the Brakes Trust helped to promote via member Graham Hobbins. We got the chance to talk to Seb, and he acknowledging the achievements of  paralympics gold medal winner Nigel Murray, of Leamington, and wished him well in his attempts to win back gold.

“None of us as are as fast as we used to be,” quipped Seb Coe when talking to Peter Bowen (left) and Graham Hobbins.

Lord Coe, talking with Brakes Trust vice-chairman Peter Bowen, Trust secretary Nick Hallworth and member Graham Hobbins, discussed Nigel’s chances in September, and his plans to bring a paralympic medal back to the Spa town for an incredible fourth time!

Nigel, a member of Brakes Trust and regular supporter of Leamington FC, is the current number one at the sport of boccia and seven times national champion.  He won individual gold at Sydney, individual silver and team gold at Bejing. The Trust is going to London to support Nigel in his efforts (see here).

Sporting stars from all over the country took part in this successful event, raising money for young people, particularly those with special needs. At time of writing it is understood that over £12,000 was raised for charity.
