Thank you Pauline

This summer, Pauline Fletcher is stepping down from her role as an advisor to the Brakes Trust board. The whole team would like to thank Pauline for all that she has done, and board member Peter Bowen has written a few words which I think encapsulate how we all feel…

The Nuttalls Standard Dictionary defines a fan “as an enthusiastic spectator or fanatic for outdoor sports.”

A supporter on the other hand is described as a person “who maintains, sustains, and defends.” Another description “refers to arms supporting figures on each side of a shield.”

All of the above apply to Pauline Fletcher, stalwart supporter of Leamington FC and the Brakes Trust Board since its foundation.

She loves Leamington FC. She is enthusiastic and fanatical about football and netball. One hundred per cent committed, she has been a strong supporter of the Trust and its work in the community.  She can always be counted upon when it comes to turning out and helping out, she rarely misses a meeting, is quick to volunteer, and always comes forward with positive and helpful suggestions.  She has maintained her enthusiasm, sustained the board in its deliberations and defended its actions and policies.

She will be missed at meetings because she had a knack of putting over the feelings of the average fan but was able to put forward a mother’s and family point of view on issues worrying spectators. She did not make speeches but what she said made sense.

Arms held aloft in gold and black saluting the champions at the NWG. What a memory.  Pauline…. was there, a true fan, supporter of the Trust, and friend.

~ Peter Bowen on behalf of the Trust board, 23/05/13.

Would you like to join the Trust’s team? We’re always looking for people to help out, either as an ongoing role or maybe just for one-off events. At the moment we are planning our involvement at Leamington Peace Festival and other community events over the summer, so if you’d like to lend a hand then please drop us an email info@brakestrust.com
