Trust statement on new car parking charges

The Brakes Trust was surprised to learn about the new car parking charges announced by Leamington FC yesterday evening (12 January).

The Trust team will need a little time to fully understand the ramifications of the announcement, but the initial response is as follows:

  • We know that social media can provide a skewed impression of public sentiment at times, but the response to the announcement has been overwhelmingly negative. We welcome comments below, or (if you choose) by email to our fan liaison alan.turrell@brakestrust.com
We’ll collate feedback from members and non-members alike, and are hoping to have some dialogue with the club in the coming days.
  • It is very disappointing that such a measure has been introduced without any consultation whatsoever with the body that represents the fans. The Trust and club have agreed liaison channels which are perfect for this kind of engagement. Sadly they have been ignored.
  • This is doubly disappointing since the Brakes Trust has already been running a non-profit-making shuttle service to/from all home matches for 13 years, at no cost to the club.
  • The announcement, as it stands, will likely mean the end of the Saturday home runs by the Trust. This is a significant loss of revenue, which contributes towards the £1300+ per annum required to keep the minibus on the road. The likely outcome, in order for the minibus to remain a sustainable venture, is for away trip prices to increase.

Further updates will be posted on our social media and on this website.
