We are all winners!
Brakes Trust sponsorship of the first FA Cup qualifier was a success and proved an enjoyable experience for Trust guests Bill Branston, Bill Draper, Ann Miller, and Kevin Murphy.
Bill Branston, who played in goal for the Brakes in a similar fixture against Boldmere in 1953, says: “It was very nice afternoon because the company was so good, many old players of my generation being present. I know Ann and Kevin had a great time. We won 5-0, which always helps. ”
Kevin Murphy, scratch card agent, also presented a cheque for £500 to chairman Jim Scott, to add to the £100 match sponsorship. “It was my introduction to football at the Windmill. You can be sure I will be back,” Kevin said.
The guests were entertained in the boardroom by club officials, hosts for the afternoon. It was all very pleasant and everyone was given a warm welcome.

Also invited to the game as part of the Trust community programme was the Painting for Pleasure group, which uses art as therapy to help those who are disabled or suffering from a variety of illnesses. Jayne Canning says the group meets every Wednesday in Leamington. It is beneficial for both carers and patients, who otherwise would feel isolated.
“Football is a new experience for us. We have taken some photographs of the action and will be doing some paintings as a result,” she added.
The Brakes Trust is also considering sponsoring the next FA Cup home game.
