Citizen of the Year updates

It’s all systems go for the Brakes Trust at the moment, with our Citizen of the Year Awards campaign going full steam. At time of writing there’s just ONE DAY left for nominations, so if you know someone worthy then please nominate them now! These are the unsung heroes and heroines who make life a little better for those around them, and don’t forget that this year we have a Young Citizen of the Year category too, for youngsters under 16 at the closing date.

Nominating is easy, you can do it online here:

Tickets for Gala Awards Ceremony

Let’s be clear – this is far from being a stuffy, boring awards ceremony! We’ll have live entertainment from local acts including street dancing, live singing, and a ‘fashion show with a difference’ from Bodies and Co. The live acts will be interspersed with interviews with the awards finalists, leading up to the pinnacle of the evening when the Young Citizen of the Year and the Citizen of the Year will be announced. Present will be the Deputy Mayor of Leamington Spa and our local MP.

Tickets are now on sale and going fast. To buy a ticket in person on a match day, see Peter Davis or any Trust board member. Priced at only £12 (£10 for Trust members!) you can’t go wrong for a night out.

You can also purchase your tickets online here:

…But be quick – last year the event was sold out!

Getting the Brakes Trust noticed

You only have to read the inspiring stories of the nominees in The Courier to see what this is all about. These people are amazing, it’s hard to put it into words.

Yet at the same time, this publicity is also reflecting positively on the Brakes Trust and our sponsors EOS Energy and Mask-arade. We’re busy gaining local followers on Twitter (follow us @brakestrust), and have the support of Dave Sharpe from Local Faces and BBC C&W. We’ve directly contacted around 180 organisations including schools, places of worship, youth groups, community groups, and charities. As well as in The Courier, our event is being plugged in various other places below:
