New Year News!
Happy New Year to all Brakes fans!
We start the year with some news from our recent AGM…
New Chairperson, Peter Davis
Following Nick Rogers standing down as Chairperson of the Trust, Peter has been elected by the board to become the new chair. Pete will be focusing on improved engagement, both with the immediate fanbase and members, and of course the wider community of Leamington and Warwick.
The Brakes Trust is about three things: Supporters, Football Club and Community. An active and well run Trust will provide benefits for all three. Historically, community action has included promoting the football club throughout the town at various public events and fairs. However in recent years we’ve seen a dip in that engagement, not just as a result of Covid but also from several significant community events not taking place (e.g. the carnival and the Peace Festival). We wish to re-energise the pre-Covid community engagement, and welcome input and support from members and non-members alike.
New board member, Alan Turrell
Alan has been part of the team for the last year, undertaking the dual roles of Members’ liaison and Club liaison. At the recent AGM he was voted onto the Trust board, and he will continue his dual roles. We welcome Alan onto the team, bringing new experience and enthusiasm.
The Brakes Trust is the voice of supporters at the football club, and can provide independent representation where needed. The Trust is a shareholder in Leamington FC Limited, and is run democratically. (For example, at the last Leamington FC Ltd vote on the proposed ground move, the Trust balloted our membership in order to determine which way to vote).
If you’d like the Trust to raise anything on your behalf, or have ideas on events, or feedback, or anything at all! – feel free to have a chat with Alan at any home game, or he can be emailed on alan.turrell@brakestrust.com
