Warwick Races offer, Monday 17 June

Warwick RacesIn recognition of Brakes winning promotion to Conference North, there is to be a special “Warwick welcomes the Champions” race night for those associated with Leamington FC on the evening of June 17.

It is being run by The Brakes Trust in partnership with the race course authorities, and follows on from two previous race nights for Leamington fans in June 20011/ 2012.

Huw Williams, general manager at Warwick, says Leamington FC had a truly outstanding season, topping the table with 95 points, some 12 points clear of nearest rivals Stourbridge.

“We look forward to welcoming our friends from the Brakes once again and sharing in their celebrations. They last won the title 30 years ago, so it should be a big night out,” he added.

All Brakes Trust members and season ticket holders will get free racing and free parking on production at the gate of their trust membership cards or season tickets for the 2012/13 season. The first of six races is at 6.20pm. Gates open 4.20pm.

Update from Nick Rogers (Brakes Trust Membership Secretary):

I’ll be driving the minibus and will have any unclaimed membership cards from last season and new ones for the new season on me @ Hampton St. after arrival of the minibus at approx 5:40.

It makes sense for two major sporting concerns, keen to attract more support from South Warwickshire, to promote and engage followers of both disciplines in each others sports in times of austerity.

“Both the football club and the racecourse are well established venues offering marvellous entertainment and good facilities—they represent good value for money compared with charges for theatre or music,” commented Mr. Williams.

Adrian Barton of the Brakes Trust agreed that the racing at Warwick is always exciting and colourful. “Success breeds success. We are pleased to have such an arrangement with a successful sporting organisation, which has been involved in the sport since the 1700’s,” he added.

Shuttle Minibus

The Trust is running a shuttle minibus service from Leamington to Warwick so that our members can enjoy the hospitalities of the racecourse without worrying about driving home. The cost will be £3 return.

Times are approximate – it all depends on the traffic – so please get there early but allow for us to be a few minutes late.
