Brakes fans off to the Races!

Leamington fans will mingle with race goers on Monday evening to cheer home their fancies in a sport more closely associated with Ascot than Wembley.

This is the first time football supporters will have lent their support to racing in this way, following a unique partnership between The Brakes Trust and Warwick Racecourse.

The Brakes night at Warwick races is for local followers of football. There will be a race named after The Brakes Trust, and dedicated to our members.

All associated with Leamington FC have been invited to attend the flat race meeting on Junes 13th as an introduction to this colourful and exciting sport of Kings.

There will be free entry to the course on production of trust membership cards; players and officials club passes; and fans sporting black and gold colours carrying the windmill logo. (Wolves and Port Vale supporters, please note!).

Huw Williams, managing director of the racecourse, said he was pleased to introduce the supporters, players and officials of Leamington to racing at Warwick during the close season.

“It makes sense that two very successful organisations should promote their sport to each others followers in this way. We hope that there will be some cross-over in support to benefit us both,” he explained.

Peter Bowen, vice/chairman of the Brakes Trust, said: “Racing is a thrilling and colourful spectacle. I hope Leamington supporters will turn the paddock into a sea of black and gold, creating a great atmosphere for everyone present. It should be a great night.”

The race night is another example of The Brakes Trust (organisers of Citizen of the Year) getting closer to the business and local community by forming partnerships of mutual benefit. There will be other activities involving the Trust and the race course next year.
